Where the money leaks.
Most sampling failures are specification failures. The tech pack was incomplete, the tolerance was never stated, the trim was described rather than referenced, and the fit was approved on one body without a graded rule. Then bulk arrives and it is different again, because nobody wrote down what approved meant in measurable terms.
The steps, in order.
Audit the specification. What the factory has been given and what is missing from it.
Complete the tech pack. Construction, points of measure, tolerances, trims, labelling, packing and testing.
Set the sampling sequence. Proto, fit, pre-production, gold seal, with a defined pass criterion at each gate.
Run the fit rule. Base size, grade rule and the tolerance the factory must hold.
Write the quality standard. Defect classification, AQL, inspection point and what happens when a shipment fails.
Set the approval trail. Who signs, on what evidence, and how bulk is verified against the gold seal.

Prox writes the commercial and technical specification and works with your designer or pattern maker for construction drawings. If you have neither, Prox will introduce someone and manage the brief.
The final approved sample that bulk production must match. Every subsequent argument about quality is settled against it, which is why it is worth the extra week.
Three for a straightforward garment, four to five for complex construction. More than that usually means the specification is incomplete rather than the factory failing.
